I received my MD at the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1996. I practiced briefly as a general practitioner in Sofia, prior to immigrating to the US in 1998. While preparing for the United States Medical Licensing Examinations, I was a Research Associate at the Department of Psychiatry at University of California San Diego. This position allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of mental health problems, fueling my interest in psychiatry.
I completed my psychiatry residency at Saint Louis University and then a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at OHSU. I am comfortable with multiple psychotherapeutic modalities as well as prescribing medications when indicated. In the past 15 years of my private practice I have also provided psychiatric services at the following outpatient, partial hospitalization and residential facilities: Legacy Emmanuel Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry, Yamhill Family and Youth Programs, Youth Villages Christie Care Campus, Center for Discovery, Monte Nido and affiliates, Clementine West Linn. All of these diverse experiences have provided me with a deep sense of how to be attuned to individual situations.
